With the arrival of summer 2025, the Campania airport system is experiencing a golden season. Naples International Airport (Capodichino) surpassed 2 million passengers in the first quarter, marking a 56% increase in intercontinental traffic compared to 2024. This impressive result was made possible by new direct flights to Atlanta, Chicago, and Montréal, complementing existing routes to New York (JFK and EWR) and Philadelphia.
Thanks to carriers such as American Airlines, Delta Airlines, United Airlines, and Air Canada, transatlantic service now includes 43 weekly frequencies to six North American airports, with capacity quadrupling since 2023—from 100,000 to 425,000 seats.
Capodichino confirms its role as a key Mediterranean hub, with over 120 destinations across 35 countries and 38 daily flights to 24 international hubs, from Amsterdam to Dubai, Frankfurt to Istanbul, and Paris, London, Madrid, and Vienna. European and Mediterranean tourist traffic is also booming, with record offerings to Greek islands (10 destinations, including Mykonos, Santorini, Corfu, and Zakynthos) and up to 17 weekly flights to Ibiza.
The newly inaugurated Salerno – Costa d’Amalfi Airport is expanding rapidly. Since March 30, 2025, it has launched service to Vienna, followed by Brussels Charleroi, nearly doubling its international routes from 7 to 13. New destinations include Berlin, Bucharest, London, Paris, Tirana, Barcelona, Marseille, Lyon, Geneva, and Nantes.
Salerno’s network is further strengthened by the arrival of new airlines: starting May 22, British Airways will fly from Salerno to London Gatwick three times a week, while Vueling will operate to Paris Orly from June 20 and to Barcelona from July 3. This brings the total number of airlines operating in Salerno to six: British Airways, easyJet, Ryanair, Volotea, Vueling, and Wizz Air.
As highlighted by Roberto Barbieri, CEO of GESAC, “the strategic and continuous expansion of our flight offer has improved mobility for tourists, students, entrepreneurs, and cargo, generating jobs and development. The presence of leading North American carriers and the launch of the first direct flight to Canada are exceptional milestones. At the same time, the integration of Naples and Salerno strengthens the Campania airport system and promotes lesser-known areas to international tourism.”
With the summer season underway, Campania is ready to welcome thousands of travelers, reaffirming its role as a cultural, tourist, and economic destination of reference in the Mediterranean.
